Parade and Company Camp Pre-camp: 22 October 2011
Saturday's parade was an especially enjoyable one, because of normal parade and coy camp pre-camp. Woot! ^-^
There were drill tests for most of our juniors, so the Year 3s and 5s who weren't involved with it had an enriching yet fun filled session learning and playing team building games, courtesy of Mr Ian Goh and Mr Yi Wei. We played a variety of games involving strings, beach balls, ping pong balls and alphabet mats and basically these games were for us to work as a team (no duh) and learn various icebreakers so we wouldn't have to play Whacko all the time.
Much laughter ensued during the cowboy/ indian/ zombie/ robot/ kungfu etc. game due to the funny actions we had to do and the noises we had to make (insert robot noise or shakalakahs here). It definitely was an enjoyable experience bonding and learning to work together and getting to know the Year 3s better.
After these exciting and enriching games, we headed to the LT to quieten our hearts and get ready for Live! Praise. The boys who led worship did it beautifully and it was really nice having everyone coming together to praise God. I've always enjoyed the genuineness of the worship sessions in BB and this session really touched my heart. We had a short sermon thereafter and the session was rounded up with the singing of the company theme song! Seeing all the cohorts come together, singing the song with much gusto was definitely very heartwarming and indeed with coy camp coming, we shall bond across the cohorts and "be one in vision, one in Christ"!
Lunch. SAC. Food. Nomnom. And then it was time for COY CAMP PRECAMP! We were split into our groups for the first time based on our wings (Galatia 1/2 ftw) and had a fabulous time getting to know each other by playing…you got it, Whacko and Double Whacko! (so much for our team building game enrichment huh) The most called person was definitely PEA! I'm actually really bad with names and faces, so I was pretty relieved I was barely called. Watching others yell each others' names out definitely helped me to put names to faces. Yay! And after this, the games for pre camp commenced!
According to Nick, these were the games we played "…that throw ball at the net and it renounces game and frisbee and bite bread go around pillar and chubby bunny and eat apple while doing push ups and find gummies in fried maggi and captains ball and it was fun and built team spirit and…Galatia won all the games it played!!" And indeed.
Highlights would include: the showdown between Year 1 Moses from G1/2 and Adi from G3/4 during Chubby Bunny! You should've seen their faces. It was absolutely golden. Everyone got a real kick from watching them. Though the girls did not partake in any of the food games, it was rather amusing to see the guys 'man-up' by doing push ups to eat an apple and as Nick said, he ate the maggi while looking for the gummies with his mouth "LIKE A MAN". All the other games were pretty sweet as well, the ball and frisbee games definitely helped us to work and bond as a group, through communication, teamwork, comradeship and it was lovely seeing the care and concern shown to those who fell or sustained injuries.
Through all the giggles and the laughter and the sweat, we definitely had an amazing time getting to know each other better and just spending time as a group. I'm looking forward to even more amazing times together as a group during the actual coy camp.
Oh and I almost forgot, before dismissal we played Blow Wind, Blow! As an entire Year 1 - 5 batch. The circle pretty much stretched across the entire space frame. It was a source of much amusement, seeing certain people get targeted (7 for bio Junkiat) and watching the chaos ensued as people were scrambling for spots. It was really great seeing fellow coy mates looking out for each other, making space and asking some to "just sit!" or pointing out an empty space for them (thanks Ben Tay and Yong Jian for helping me ^-^) and yeah, props to all you who did the same. It was good fun for sure and I'm sure more fond memories like this will be made at coy camp.
And with that, mad props to the games committee for organizing these amazing games and for moderating them, really thankful that no fights or hostility occurred and thank you God for keeping all our body parts intact, with no major injuries sustained. It was truly an unforgettable experience and I'm sure many of you look forward to camp to come. Looking forward to a fun-filled, God-filled time…To God be the glory, the best is yet to be! See y'all.
